Being a good leader is similar to being a talented juggler – one must be able to keep a lot of objects in the air simultaneously. As a leader your abilities are expected to cover the operational activities, the longterm ambitions as well as other capabilities – such as negotiation along with stakeholder and conflict management –  and thus it’s not unusual that an object is dropped once in a while.

In project intense organizations as well as organizations with ongoing or upcoming changes, it can be especially difficult even for an experienced leader to keep juggling everything without loosing the grip of something. When an organization is in a period of changes and a leader no longer can proceed with the status quo, it can sometimes be difficult to decide on the best way to motivate and guide your employees. Furthermore, you’re equally challenged as a leader when managing a project with the aim of accomplishing a transformation through lateral leadership but without a clear decision mandate.
