Project Management in Practice

[hands-on knowledge within project management]

Like most people, you’ve likely encountered projects as a form of work at some point in your life—whether in school, within an association, or frequently in the workplace. In fact, up to 40% of all work in organizations, both in the private and public sectors, is carried out in project form. This means we are all comfortable talking about projects and saying that we work on projects. However, very few know what distinguishes projects from other forms of work. Why do we work on projects, and most importantly, how do we work effectively in projects? These are questions whose answers are not obvious to many.

At Arkatay, we offer a practical-oriented training in project management, Project Management in Practice, aimed at project members and leaders who want to develop in this area. The tools we present in the training are drawn from our own experience as well as from standards and frameworks. It is often referred to as best practice, hence the course name.

Practical-oriented training

Our training program can be tailored to accommodate beginners in the field of project management as well as those higher up in the organization seeking a better understanding and insight into project management. Our goal is to serve as the link between course participants and theory, utilizing a blend of practical experience and theoretical expertise.

The training is scenario-based, meaning that we consistently work with a case study to apply the various techniques presented. We provide time and opportunity for all participants to bring their own challenges from their organization into the classroom for discussions and knowledge exchange. All our trainers have practical experience in project management and can provide valuable perspectives and insights into how theory translates into practice.

Course objectives

Upon completion of the training, participants should:

  • Be able to lead simple projects within their organization.
  • Understand the fundamentals of a general project methodology.
  • Have a general understanding of various competency areas and recommended best practices in project management, as well as an awareness of personal development areas.
  • Be capable of using important templates and tools.
  • Be familiar with a global nomenclature for project management according to the PMBOK® Guide and ISO 21500.
